One Team, One Mission - Building Unity and Growing Membership

September 2026

Brother Knights,

District 17: One Team, One Mission Worthy Officers, Brothers, and Friends,

As we step into September, we enter one of the most vital seasons of our fraternal year. Summer schedules are winding down, families are re-establishing routines, and our councils have a prime opportunity to hit the ground running with fresh energy, purpose, and momentum. This month, my message to every council in District 17 is centered on two vital priorities that go hand in hand: unity across our district and the growth of our membership.

Unity Across District 17

No council is an island. The true strength of District 17 lies in our willingness to stand together, share ideas, and support one another’s efforts. When one council hosts an event, plans a charitable project, or holds a degree ceremony, every council in our district should look for ways to participate or assist; Cross-Council Collaboration: Reach out to neighboring grand knights and officers. Combine forces for larger community projects, joint social gatherings, or shared recruitment drives. Shared Wisdom: If your council excels in a specific program, mentor a sister council. If your council is facing a challenge, don't hesitate to ask for help. We succeed together.

Membership: Our Life Blood Growth is not just a strategic goal; it is the key to ensuring our

mission endures. Every new member brings new ideas, fresh energy, and expanded capacity to serve our parishes and local communities.

Fellow parishioner who would make an excellent Knight. A personal invitation remains the most effective form of recruitment. Make the Invitation: Most men have never joined

simply because no one personally asked them. Take time after masses, community events, or social gatherings to share what our fraternity means to you and invite them to join our ranks. Focus on Retention & Engagement: Growth isn't only about recruiting new member, it's about engaging the ones we already have. Reach out to brothers who haven't attended a meeting recently. Ensure every member feels valued and has a meaningful

role to play.

Moving Forward Together

Let September be the month where District 17 sets the standard for teamwork and fraternal pride. When we align our efforts and actively build our membership, there is no limit to the positive impact we can make in our parishes and communities. Thank you for your dedicated leadership, your hard work, and your commitment to our shared principles. Let’s make this month our strongest yet!

Fraternally and in Service,

Greg Gully,District Deputy, District 17
