Grand Knights, Officers, and Brother Knights,

Welcome to October! As we enter the heart of autumn, District 17 is poised

for dynamic momentum across our councils: Notre Dame Council 10514,

St. Mary’s Council 11961, and Mother Seton Council 17480.

October is traditionally a month where our identity as Knights takes center stage. On Columbus Day, we honor our namesake, Christopher Columbus, remembering the vision of charity, faith, and unity upon which Blessed Father Michael J. McGivney founded our Order.

As we reflect on our mission, I ask each council to keep two primary priorities at the forefront this month:

1. The Power of a Personal Invitation

No charitable initiative, parish project, or community event happens without the dedication of faithful Catholic men. Yet, the single biggest reason gentlemen in our pews have not joined our ranks is simple: nobody has asked them.

With parish calendars full of fall activities, ministry fairs, and council events, make October the month you extend a personal invitation. Offer a fellow parishioner the opportunity to protect his family, grow in his faith, and serve his community as a Knight of Columbus.

2. Strengthening Fraternal & Parish Unity

Our three councils represent the backbone of Catholic action across Flagler County. When one council hosts a program, degree exemplification, or charitable event, let

us stand together to support it.

Check Your Council Goals: We are making excellent progress toward our Columbian Year targets. Grand Knights and Program Directors should review mid-year progress toward Star Council requirements, ensuring all Faith in Action forms and reporting are on track.

Support Our Priests & Parishes: As parish activities increase this fall, be the visible, helping hands your pastors rely on.

Thank you for your continued leadership, your charity, and your steadfast commitment to our brotherhood. Let us make October a month of remarkable growth and active faith across District 17. Always remember to be the hands and feet of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Vivat Jesus!

Greg Gully

District Deputy, District 17
